Medellín IA Business Summit 2026: Why I am flying to Colombia for a panel on private AI

Where C-levels in LATAM are actually talking about real AI implementation

On May 26, 2026 I fly to Medellín for a panel at the Medellín IA Business Summit. This is not a conference in the classical sense. It is a closed breakfast format with around 30 to 40 C-levels who are actually using AI in their companies.

Here is why I think the event matters and what I plan to talk about there.

Why this event is different

Most AI events in DACH and LATAM tell the same story. ChatGPT changes everything. Generative AI is the next industrial revolution. We help you adapt.

What is missing: concrete implementations with numbers. What actually worked, what did not, and what costs and risks really emerge.

The Medellín IA Business Summit takes a different approach. Invitees are exclusively decision makers who are already implementing AI or concretely planning to. No commercial pitches, no demos, no generic slides. Instead a panel and open Q&A among peers.

CCsolutions hosts the event, together with AHK Colombia (Colombian-German Chamber of Commerce), SISAP, and DevOpsDays Medellín.

What I am going to talk about

My focus in the panel: private AI architectures for regulated industries. What does that mean concretely.

Most banks, insurers, and healthcare companies in DACH and LATAM cannot send their data to OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google. Habeas Data in Colombia, GDPR in Europe, BaFin for German financial institutions, MaRisk. The regulatory requirements are clear.

For years the obvious conclusion was: AI is not worth it for these companies. With locally operated LLMs and Retrieval Augmented Generation architectures, that math changed fundamentally in 2024.

One concrete example I will discuss on stage. An insurance team in Colombia runs a private AI assistant in production that has processed 3.2 million messages. Operational search time for internal information dropped by 87 percent. Zero data leakage to the outside.

The configuration is not magic. Llama or Mistral as the base model on owned hardware. A vector database with internal policies, manuals, and historical tickets. An inference pipeline on Kubernetes. Total cost of ownership below what OpenAI Enterprise would have cost, with the bonus that nothing leaves the company.

What gets discussed on the panel

Planned topics with co-panelists Carlos Alberto Dorta (Digital Transformation Strategist) and Margarita Pombo (B2B Growth Consultant):

  • Where private AI has better economic math than public APIs, and where it does not
  • Compliance arguments for private AI in front of the board, in language lawyers understand
  • Which use cases should go first (spoiler: not the most ambitious, but the most clearly measurable)
  • What goes wrong in implementations, with real examples from projects in Colombia and Germany

The moderator is Javier Pinilla, our CTO at CCsolutions.io with 15 years of experience in cloud architectures across three continents.

Why this DACH and LATAM mix

A short note on why this event makes sense from a German-Colombian perspective.

In DACH AI adoption is often slower than in the US or parts of Asia. Compliance requirements, risk aversion in boards, fragmented data landscapes. Exactly the same problems exist in regulated LATAM industries. Banks in Bogotá fight with Habeas Data, banks in Frankfurt with BaFin. The implementation patterns are more similar than most people think.

CCsolutions works on both sides. Our math is simple: solutions we build for German mid-market companies often transfer directly to large Colombian enterprises and vice versa. The Summit is one of the places where we make that exchange visible.

Conclusion

If you are seriously planning AI in your company or already implementing, and you operate in LATAM or DACH: take a look at the event. Even if you cannot attend, the topics we will discuss are the same ones that will be on your desk in the next twelve months.
